5 SaaS Strategies You Should Steal - August Edition
Reading time: 3 minutes
1) Job-to-be-done Framework

The goal of this strategy is to optimize your SEO, in order to offer a direct solution to a problem & create dedicated pages for specific use cases.
Examples include:
“Online business card designer”
“Design LinkedIn banner”
“Online wedding invitations designer”
In marketing, these are called Transactional Queries.
A transactional query is a search term people search for when they want to complete a certain transaction or "get the job done”.
Canva nailed this strategy with their niched templates.

2) The Messaging Switch

Stand out from the crowd with niche messaging.
Be it your website copy, your communication, or your content strategy.
Loom achieved this by stating they are branding themselves as “async messaging for work“ instead of just another screen recording tool.
Read more about strategies that Loom utilized here:
3) ROI Showcasing

Always showcase & highlight the ROI you’re generating for your end customers through metrics or statistics.
➡️ Loom shows you how many meetings you’ve eliminated.
➡️ Instacart shows how many hours you’ve saved grocery shopping.
➡️ Wolt shows how much money you saved by using their premium subscription.
Keep reminding your users of the value you bring.
4) Engineering As Marketing

Or as I like to call it “The Dubai Strategy”.
Why Dubai?
In Dubai, each attraction has its own “wow” moment.
You might visit because of the Dubai Frame 🖼️
You might visit because you want to eat dinner in the sky 🍽️
You might visit because you want to parachute off of Burj Khalifa 🪂
Just like Dubai has its own segmented attractions that make you want to visit the city,
Your users may turn into paid customers because of 1 feature you marketed really really well.
Engineering as Marketing emphasizes the concept of extracting 1 feature from your software, spinning it up as a dedicated app & marketing it as a separate product.
This dedicated app will serve as a lead magnet toward your main offer / product.

5) Community-led Growth

Create a Slack / Discord group where you can keep in touch with your customers in order to nurture relationships.
Notion leveraged this, as they currently have over 350,000 Reddit users, where they get new feature ideas, but most importantly:
They have direct access to their community, making it much easier to share news, updates and gather feedback.

Hope you enjoyed reading about these 5 strategies, and I hope you gained some new ideas that you can implement as well!
From now on, I’ll have a special monthly edition like this one, where I’ll share the top 5 strategies I found that month.
It would mean a lot to help me improve SaaS Strats:
